IFP/SEATTLE ANNOUNCES SPOTLIGHT AWARD WINNER

Joe Jacobs’ Forced Entry wins production grant

Seattle, WA (November 17, 2010) – The IFP/Seattle today announced the winner for this year’s Spotlight Award, a production grant featuring thousands of dollars of in-kind goods and services from the leading Northwest production companies. The winner is Seattle filmmaker Joe Jacobs, for his project “Forced Entry.”

"I'm extremely grateful that the IFP/Seattle Spotlight grant is available for filmmakers looking to kick start their career. One of the hardest parts of becoming a filmmaker is believing in yourself and your projects. Thanks to IFP's support, a lot of that doubt has been replaced with confidence and resources to complete my project, and that's one of the most awesome gifts any individual can receive," said Jacobs.

The Spotlight Award is a grant of in-kind film production goods and services from local and national companies, to produce a high quality short film on film. The 2010 Spotlight Award is being sponsored by Eastman Kodak, Alpha Cine Labs, Clatter + Din, Ken Coble (Location Scout), Lance Rosen, Modern Digital, Oppenheimer Cine Rental and Seattle Grip and Lighting.

Caroline Colon, IFP/Seattle Board Member and Programming Director: “The IFP Spotlight award is a centerpiece of our programming. This unique grant program allows filmmakers the opportunity to build on a solid script by getting access to top-notch equipment and resources to support them in the creative process. The result is a professional short film that showcases the talent of the Northwest."

Past award winners include Tim Watkins’ “Photo Booth” (recently completed, just applying to film festivals), “Night Blind” from Robert Parks, “Dry Rain” from Matthew Clark, starring James LeGros, Cheryl Slean’s “Diggers,” Dan Brown’s animated “Pierre” and John Helde’s “Hello,” starring Eric Stoltz.

This year’s finalists were:

“Forced Entry” from Joe Jacobs
“Going Home” from Justin Burris McGowan
“It’s For You” from Laura Jean Cronin
“Outside Experts” from Ilona Rossman Ho
“Pretty Face and Green My Eyes” from Sam Graydon
